Founded in 2017, the farm sanctuary is fully funded by donations, memberships, and animal sponsorships, according to a GoFundMe page started for the organization.
Small uses the farm sanctuary as a rehabilitating, secure environment for its 149 animals, as well as a learning space for all of its visitors, she wrote on the page.
"Our animals are horses, pigs, donkeys, cows, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs and cats as well as one turkey and a turtle. The vast majority of our animals have been rescued from circumstances involving neglect, abuse and or abandonment."
Not only does the sanctuary have a wide variety of animals, but the organization also partners with groups in the community to connect with a wide variety of visitors.
"Our visitors include disabled children and adults, veterans and active members of the military, first responders as well as school groups, families, volunteers and other individuals."
Many community members commented on Small's fundraising page in support of the work The Hope and Serenity Farm Sanctuary does for both humans and animals.
The GoFundMe page had raised over $135,000 of their $500,000 goal as of August 29.
